Abu Dhabi: The United Arab Emirates said Friday that 22 of its soldiers had been killed in Yemen taking part in a Saudi-led coalition battling rebels, in its biggest losses so far.

The Emirati armed forces, in a statement carried by the official WAM news agency, did not disclose the circumstances of the deaths.

But Yemeni military sources said Arab coalition soldiers were among those killed Friday in an "accidental explosion" at an ammunition store in the battleground eastern oil province of Marib.
