London: Slain British nationals Reyaad Khan and Ruhul Amin, who had joined Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), were reportedly plotting to kill Queen Elizabeth II and other members of the royal family.

The three terrorists were planning to detonate a bomb during 70th anniversary VJ Day celebration in Whitehall on September 15 where Queen, Prince Charles and hundreds of others would be present, as per report in the New York Post.

Khan, Amin and a third militant were killed in a planned air strike on August 21 by Royal Air Force (RAF) when they were travelling in a vehicle in terror group's stronghold Raqqah in Syria.

Justifying the killings, Britain Prime Minister David Cameron had told the Parliament that it was an act of “self-defence”.

Cameron also took to Twitter to confirm the deaths of the three militants.
