Beirut: A video has surfaced on YouTube, featuring ISIS religious police flogging musicians for playing 'un-Islamic' keyboard, reports stated on Tuesday.
The video posted by Star Media on YouTube has some pictures showing Islamic State militants torturing a musician and destroying musical instruments after discovering that he played 'un-Islamic' electronic keyboard, a few miles to the east of Aleppo in Syria.
One of the pictures in the video shows a man, standing with his back towards the camera, being hit across the back and legs with a wooden stick publicly.
According to Daily Mail, some musicians were punished with 90 lashes alongside a man caught impersonating a 'hisbah'.
Earlier, a man caught smuggling cigarettes was also punished with 50 lashes.
Since taking control of large parts of Syria and Iraq last year, the IS has taken to strictly enforcing the Sharia law within the area it controls. The militant group proclaimed a caliphate in its territories in Iraq and Syria.
Thieves were regularly pictured having their hands or arms amputated in public, while adulterers have been executed.
