A light airplane crashed in Japan's capital on Sunday morning, killing 3.

Tokyo: A light airplane crashed in Japan's capital on Sunday morning, setting fire to nearby houses and vehicles, reports said.

According to local media reports, the plane crashed in a residential area in the district of Chofu, killing three.

TV visuals showed firefighters battling big flames at the site of crash.

"It was really horrible. It was dangerous," Japan's NHK news quoted a 82-year-old woman eyewitness as saying.

"It felt like an earthquake," said another.
