A day after the death anniversary of fatal police shooting of unarmed black teenager Michael Brown, his father thanked people for their support and urged them to be “careful, mindful” while holding protests in his son's memory.

Ferguson: A day after the death anniversary of fatal police shooting of unarmed black teenager Michael Brown, his father thanked people for their support and urged them to be “careful, mindful” while holding protests in his son's memory.

Michael Brown Sr took to Facebook on late Monday to express his gratitude to supporters who held events and took out rallies over the weekend in memory of the first death anniversary of his son.

He also told them that the marches so far were being held peacefully and wrote, “...So please be careful, mindful and protect yourselves from those who would like to see this be unsuccessful."

His comments came after a state of emergency was imposed in St Louis County in Ferguson following standoff between police and protesters leading to several arrests.

The tense standoff continued till Tuesday morning with protesters hurling bottles and rocks at police which, in turn, used pepper spary to control the agitated crowd.

St Louis County Police Department took to Twitter to describe the situation.
