Cairo: An Egyptian court on Monday ordered the release of two sons of ousted president Hosni Mubarak after it was ruled that they had completed their three-year sentences on charges of embezzlement in the "presidential palaces case".

In May, Gamal and Alaa Mubarak were convicted of embezzling state funds earmarked for the renovation of Egypt's presidential palaces, Al Ahram news reported.

They were arrested in 2011.

Hosni Mubarak was also convicted in the case.

They still face other cases, including charges of stock market manipulation and facilitating procedures for selling vast state lands at cheap prices.

Hosni Mubarak, who is currently staying in a military hospital, and his interior minister have been acquitted of the responsibility for the killing of protesters in 2011.
