Tokyo: A powerful earthquake measuring 6.4 -magnitude struck southeast of Japan on Friday morning, the US Geological Survey said.
According to the USGS, the quake's epicentre was 226 kilometres southeast of Tokyo at a shallow depth of 10 kilometres.

There was no tsunami warning issued by the Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre in Hawaii.
Small tremors were reportedly felt in nine Japanese prefectures, including in Fukushima and Tokyo.
Japan's weather agency said while slight sea-level changes in coastal regions” may be observed, the earthquake has caused no damage to the country.
