China on Tuesday condemned the terrorist attack at a hospital in Pakistan and said that it stands behind its ally in the fight against terrorism and its efforts to maintain stability.

Beijing: China on Tuesday condemned the terrorist attack at a hospital in Pakistan and said that it stands behind its ally in the fight against terrorism and its efforts to maintain stability.

"Deeply shocked and saddened by the terrorist attack which caused grave casualties in Quetta, Pakistan," Spokesperson of Chinese Foreign Ministry Hua Chunying said in a statement.

"We express our strong condemnation. Our hearts go out to the families of those killed and injured, and we mourn for the lives lost," Hua said.

"The Chinese side opposes all forms of terrorism. We will always stand behind the Pakistani side in its fight against terrorism and its campaign for stability of the country and security of the people," she said.

Seventy people were killed when a suicided attacker blew himself up at a hospital in Quetta in restive Balochistan province.
