Washington: A car following the motorcade of US President Barack Obama`s daughters – Sasha and Malia – triggered a security alarm that led to the lock down of the White House for over an hour on Tuesday.

The incident took place at around 4:40 pm when a grey Honda Sedan followed the motorcade carrying daughters of the US President and entered the security check at 17th Street.

It was then stopped by the Secret Service agents who then searched it in a restricted section of Pennsylvania Avenue.
However, nothing suspicious was found in the vehicle.

The Pennsylvania Avenue stretch, located near the White House, is only open for pedestrians, delivery vehicles and high-level officials including members of the President`s family and dignitaries among others.
