New York: A Canadian man will appear in a New York court on Saturday accused of conspiracy and murder over the killing of five US soldiers in Iraq, US prosecutors said.

Faruq Khalil Muhammed Isa, 36, will appear in a US federal court in Brooklyn after being extradited from Canada, said Loretta Lynch, US attorney for the eastern district of New York.

He is accused of helping to orchestrate a truck bombing against a US base in Mosul, northern Iraq, on April 10, 2009 that killed five American soldiers.

"We will continue to use every available means to bring to justice those who are responsible for the deaths of American servicemen and women who paid the ultimate price in their defense of this nation," Lynch said.

Lynch is President Barack Obama`s nominee to be the next US attorney general.
