London: Love knows no bound. A British
man gave his fiancee a bit of his leg literally and she agreed
to give him her hand in marriage in return.

Yes, 25-year-old Mike Perrett, who lost his right leg in an accident in India, got an engagement ring made for his fiancee Melita from his own shin bone, leading British tabloid
the `News of the World` reported.

"It had been in my mind all the way through to make an
engagement ring for Melita out of my own bone. Once I decided
to propose it seemed obvious," Mike, an employment advisor,
was quoted as saying.

And far from being freaked, Melita was delighted when
he proposed with it during dinner at home in northwest London.

The 25-year-old teaching assistant said: "It
was the most beautiful ring I`d ever seen -- so romantic. I`m
overjoyed to have one that was part of him."

The ring, made from platinum and inlaid with pieces of
his bone plus a quarter-carat diamond, cost 1,500 pounds.

Mike, who got the idea when he saw a friend wearing
an imitation bone earring made from plastic, said: "I`d always
been very good at making things so I thought why not make a
real bone earring? I bought a Dremel multi-tool and the first
pieces I made were a necklace and an earring for myself and
cufflinks for my dad."

Mike and Melita met in Kazakhstan while on gap years.
Mike travelled on to India where he had the accident that cost
him his right leg. "I was playing volleyball with children at
an orphanage when the ball went over the cliff. I lost balance
and fell 40 metres," he said.

Despite surgery, Mike`s leg refused to heal so he
decided to have it amputated. But he said: "I hated the idea
of it being taken away for ever. They agreed to give me part
of the shin bone, which kept me happy."
