Bangladesh to verify nationality of trafficking victims rescued by Myanmar

A delegation from Bangladesh has departed for Myanmar to verify the nationality of 208 human trafficking victims, who were recently rescued from the sea.

Dhaka: A delegation from Bangladesh has departed for Myanmar to verify the nationality of 208 human trafficking victims, who were recently rescued from the sea.

According to The Daily Star, international reports said that the 208 migrants, rescued Friday in the first ever drive by Myanmar, were Bangladeshis.
Myanmar had said the people rescued would be returned "soon".

Col Khaliquzzaman, head of the 11-member team, said that they were awaiting a green signal from the Myanmar authorities.
