Ban Ki-moon appoints Pak general as UN military advisor

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon on Monday appointed a Pakistani army general as the Military Adviser for United Nations Peacekeeping Operations.

United Nations: UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon on Monday appointed a Pakistani army general as the Military Adviser for United Nations Peacekeeping Operations.
Lt Gen Maqsood Ahmed, who replaces Senegal`s Lt Gen Babacar Gaye whose tour of duty ended on July 8, recently completed his duties as a Corps Commander in the Pakistan Army, an appointment that he had held since February 2013.
Ahmed has held a number of senior appointments, including serving as an Infantry Commander. His military appointments comprised a combination of command and staff appointments and include a United Nations peacekeeping tour of duty in the Democratic Republic of the Congo in 2005-2006, a UN statement said.
