Damascus: While accusing Turkey of supporting the rebels in Syria to oust his government, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad warned the neighbouring country on Friday that it will face severe consequences.

In a Television interview, Assad firmly said that very soon the terrorists will hit back on Turkey.

“Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan`s Islamic-rooted conservative government has been supporting the Syrian rebellion against the regime,” said Assad.

He also termed terrorism as a scorpion which doesn’t hesitate to sting at any moment.

The tensions between the two nations grew when a Syrian military helicopter was downed by Turkey on September 17. Turkey had claimed that the helicopter had violated its airspace.
