Brussels: An American couple reported missing after last week`s terror attacks at Brussels` airport and metro were among the people killed, the company that employed the husband said on Saturday.

Justin and Stephanie Shults, a husband and wife who were reported missing after dropping her mother off at Brussels airport, were killed in the blasts there, his employer said.

"We have learned today that Justin and Stephanie Shults died in the bombing at Brussels airport," Clarcor, the filtration company where Justin worked, said in a statement posted on its website.

A Twitter account that US media said belonged to Shults` brother, Levi Sutton, also confirmed their deaths.

"We found out today that cowards took my brother`s life just weeks after his 30th birthday," Sutton wrote in a message posted Saturday.

"I was blessed to have Justin as a big brother. He was smart and kind and generous," he said.

"Stephanie was always so happy. I really enjoyed any chance I got to be around her. The world lost two amazing people today. It`s not fair," he added.

The couple had lived in Brussels since 2014, Clarcor said. Both were accountants, according to NBC News.

On Friday, the US State Department confirmed that two Americans were killed in the Brussels attacks on Tuesday and that other US citizens were missing.

Thirty-one people lost their lives and 300 others were wounded in the suicide blasts that have been claimed by the Islamic State group.
