Kolkata: With CPM and Congress having continuous deliberations on possible alliance for the upcoming West Bengal Assembly polls, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday accused both the political parties of running a joint venture.
Launching a blistering attack on Congress and the Left, the Trinamool Congress chief said both the parties are facing existential crisis. “This is not alliance, this is politics of opportunism for survival,” Banerjee said.
While taking a dig at the Left and the grand old party, the TMC chief said, “If someone has a strong presence, why would they go for an alliance.”
She further accused the Congress of fielding dummy candidates against Trinamool members in 2011 Assembly elections.
Trinamool Congress will go it alone in next month's Assembly election in West Bengal, party supremo Mamata Banerjee today said and declared the list of TMC candidates which included sports personalities, actor and journalist.
West Bengal will see balloting on seven dates: April 4, 11, 17, 21, 25 and 30 and May 5.
Counting of votes in the state will be held on May 19.
The BJP is seeking to emerge as a major player in West Bengal, where there are possibilities of Congress and Left joining hands directly or indirectly to take on TMC.
