Survey predicts comfortable victory for Trinamool in WB, BJP to draw blank

Kolkata: An opinion poll broadcast by a television channel has predicted a comfortable majority for the ruling Trinamool Congress in the coming West Bengal assembly polls, and that the BJP would not be able to open its account.

The survey claimed that in case of a tie-up between the Congress and the CPI-M led Left Front, the Trinamool would end up with 182 seats in the 294-member assembly.

The Congress-Left Front combine would garner 107 seats.

The BJP would draw a blank, while others could finish with five seats.

However, in case of polling percentage, the survey put the Trinamool marginally ahead.

According to it, while the Trinamool could get 44 percent of the mandate, the Congress-Left Front could end up with 43 percent of the votes.

The BJP would draw only 6 percent of the votes.

According to the survey, if the Left Front and the Congress fought the polls separately, the Trinamool tally could go up to 197.

The Left Front could get 74 seats, and the Congress 16. The BJP would fail to win any seat, with the others grabbing seven.

In vote percentage, the Trinamool could get 44, the CPI-M 37, Congress and the BJP 6 each, and others 7.

The surveyors had knocked on the doors of voters in 103 constituencies between January 29 and February 10. The sample size was 12,569.
