KMC removes MMIC who participated in rebel MLA`s function

Trinamool Congress-controlled Kolkata Municipal Corporation on Monday removed member of mayor-in-council Sanchita Mondal allegedly over her proximity to rebel party MLA Sikha Mitra.

Kolkata: Trinamool Congress-controlled Kolkata Municipal Corporation on Monday removed member of mayor-in-council Sanchita Mondal allegedly over her proximity to rebel party MLA Sikha Mitra.

The move comes days after show-cause notices were served to three party MPs after they shared dais with Mitra.

Mondal is among those who had participated in the blood donation camp organised last week by rebel party MP Somen Mitra and his wife Sikha where the three other party MPs shared dais, inviting threat of disciplinary action against them by TMC leadership.

City Mayor Sovan Chatterjee described the removal of Mondal, who was in the environment and welfare services department, "as a routine matter" of the KMC.

Trinamool Congress on Friday night had decided to slap show-cause notices on three party MPs Kunal Ghosh, Satabdi Roy and Tapas Pal for alleged anti-party activities.

Sikha was earlier suspended by the party for openly criticising Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for her style of functioning and other matters.
