Kolkata: With a view to expedite and aid mutation and conversion of land for industrial purposes, the West Bengal government will be setting up a Unique Clearance Centre (UCC) in several districts, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said Saturday.

"Our focus is to set up a true investor-friendly ambience in the state. On experimental basis, we had set up a single window synergy for convenience of industries where all departments concerned sit together and clear mutation and conversion of land for industrial purposes.

"We had set up a UCC for industrial land in Howrah in March, 2013 and it has disposed off 100 percent of the cases. We are planning to set up more such centres in other districts," she said.
According to state government officials, plans are afoot to set up UCCs at Burdwan, Bankura, Purulia and Hooghly districts.
Besides the UCC, the department of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) is planning to hire a consultant to advise the government on making legal provisions for such units more contemporary.
