UP synonymous with violence, crime: Varun Gandhi

A day after the NSA slapped against him was declared invalid, young BJP leader Varun Gandhi addressed a public rally in Puranpur, Pilibhit.

Pilibhit, May 09: A day after the NSA slapped against him was declared invalid, young BJP leader Varun Gandhi on Saturday addressed a public rally in Puranpur, Pilibhit. Amid loud chants of ‘Jai Shree Ram’ Varun slammed UP govt for making state a hub of crime.
“I stayed in jail for 20 days….I had to face tough times. But it was worth it because it was for you people,” Varun said.

"My struggle is for upholding your honour and awakening
the feeling of self-respect in you," he told a gathering of
hundreds of villagers.

Varun said there was a need to imbibe a spirit of
nationalism and make a new political beginning in the state.

"If this does not happen in UP, we all will be orphaned,"
said Varun who is contesting the Lok Sabha poll from here.

Thanking people for their support all through Varun said, “You people risked baton charge and bullets for me and I promise I will take bullets on me if need arises.”

“Like my father I will do what I promise,” he added.

Saying Uttar Pradesh was synonymous with crime the BJP leader commented, “UP has a high crime rate. Women feel unsafe in the evening and cases of burglaries on the rise. The poor in villages are being harassed by goons who go door-to-door threatening them.”

Urging people to cast their votes Varun said, “It is not about my margin of victory it is about your self respect….it is the time to fight for your self respect.”

Slamming the Centre and asking people to vote out the anti-poor government Varun said, “The common minimum price for wheat is fixed at Rs 1100 but the fact is the farmer gets only Rs 850-900.”
