Etawah: Apparently upset over police inaction against six youths accused of molesting her elder sister, a 15-year-old girl allegedly committed suicide by consuming some poisonous substance, following which police apprehended the accused persons.
The six accused, identified as Charan Singh, his brothers Satya Prakash, Parashuram, Lalta, Nihal, and one Hari Singh were arrested last night in connection with the case of molestation of a 20-year-old girl in Lavedi area on June 11, circle officer Bharthana Anil Kumar Yadav said.
The 15-year-old girl, a class 10th student, committed suicide by consuming poisonous substance yesterday, Yadav said.
She took the extreme step after police allegedly did not take immediate action against the six accused who molested her elder sister, when she was working in a field in Lavedi area.
The family members allege that the girl`s father had informed the police about the molestation incident earlier, but instead of lodging a case, police asked them to "compromise".
A case of molestation was lodged against the six accused.
