Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government has issued a notification stating that the Uttar Pradesh Combined Pre-Medical Test (UP CPMT) will not be held this year.

The notification issued on Wednesday states that instead of UP CPMT, the Uttar Pradesh government will follow the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) Phase II objective type which will be held on July 24.

NEET Phase I was held on May 1 all over the country.

As per reports, Anup Chandra Pandey, principal secretary, Medical Education, said that NEET Phase II will be applicable for candidates seeking admission to government-run MBSS and dental colleges in the state.

For students seeking admission to courses under AYUSH, a separate notification will be issued soon.

It may be noted here that after the Supreme Court directed the central government to implement NEET from this year itself, the Centre issued an ordinance allowing states to continue holding their separate medical entrance exams for this year.

The combined result of NEET Phase I and Phase II will be announced on or before August 17.
