 Two persons have been arrested for allegedly impersonating as vigilance officers and extorting money at Mansoorpur area, police said on Wednesday.

Muzaffarnagar: Two persons have been arrested for allegedly impersonating as vigilance officers and extorting money at Mansoorpur area, police said on Wednesday.

Mohit Kumar (30) and Sarvender Kumar (27), who faked themselves as Vigilance Officer and Junior Engineer respectively and extorted Rs 20,000 from a hotel owner at Mansoorpur near here, were arrested yesterday, they said.

The hotel owner Sushil Kumar alleged that the accused visited his hotel to check power connection and extorted money from him, police said.

The owner informed the police after suspecting the duo, they said.

A car with a government number plate was also recovered from the accused, police added.
