Rampur: An 8-year-old student was allegedly sexually assaulted by his teacher in Milak Tehsil of the district, police said here on Friday.
The incident took place about a fortnight ago, but it came to light last evening when the victim narrated the entire story to his grandmother and refused to go to school after Diwali holidays, police said.
After being apprised by his grandmother, the victim`s father approached the circle officer of the Tehsil, Tej Vir Singh, following which a report was lodged and the alleged culprit Acharya Som Pal was arrested, they said.
The victim has been sent for medical examination, they added.
Singh recorded the statement of the victim wherein the child narrated the entire action of the teacher.
According to the police report, the student fearlessly narrated before the police each and every action of the teacher which he had experienced.
Som Pal belonged to Humayunpur locality of Haryana and from over last two years, he has been working as a teacher in the gurukul of Rathonda village under the Milak tehsil.
The school principal Hempal Arya has termed the episode as a "conspiracy" hatched by certain vested interests.
