HRD Minister Smriti Irani appeals UP govt to pay attention to women security

Human and Resource Development Minister Smriti Irani on Saturday said that the law needs to be implemented more forcefully in Uttar Pradesh.

Musafirkhana: Human and Resource Development Minister Smriti Irani on Saturday said that the law needs to be implemented more forcefully in Uttar Pradesh.

Irani said, "Although law and order is a subject of the state, but being a woman, I would like to appeal to the central government and the finance minister that the matter of security for women and children should not be limited to books only. Rather, it should be implemented with force in the state of Uttar Pradesh"

"The amount which was there without any use for such a long time has been announced in the budget to be brought in use under the name of the Nirbhaya Fund," she added.

Critics of Akhilesh Yadav point out that crime against women in the state have increased considerably and the Badaun gang-rape case against minor girls who were found hanging from trees being the highlight.

Also there have been instances of violence against political leaders of opposition parties.
