Kota: In yet another case of abuse of power, ruling Samajwadi Party MLA Rajkumar Yadav made life tough for Rajasthan Police when he stopped a truck carrying buffaloes and freed all the bovines out on the field after it raced ahead of his car, a newspaper report said on Tuesday.

The report said that the SP MLA did so as he was annoyed with the truck driver for racing ahead of his car.

Yadav, a MLA from Sadar in Mainpuri, asked his driver to overtake the truck and stop it. He then let all the bovines out.

The incident happened near Kota in Rajasthan.

The problem aggravated when the villagers saw the buffaloes grazing near the roadside and took them home. When the real owners of those buffaloes informed police about the incident, the officials had a harrowing time as they went door-to-door to search for at least 30 buffaloes.

The police had a tough time placating the villagers to return the buffaloes.

Yadav was taken to a police station and after much persuasion the villagers agreed to return the buffaloes.

Yadav denied any wrongdoing, saying that he stopped the truck as he thought the buffaloes were being taken to a slaughter house, a charge which was vehemently denied by the real owners of the buffaloes.

While narrating his side of the story to the newspaper, Yadav said, "The truck grazed past and that is why I stopped it. I did not free the buffaloes. The villagers just arrived and took them away. The truck driver later started saying he owned the buffaloes. It was not like I was taken to the police station. I went there as the policemen wanted me to lodge an FIR about the accident."

Earlier, UP Minister Azam Khan had created a huge trouble for the cops when seven of his buffaloes were stolen in 2014.

Seven buffaloes, worth lakhs of rupees, were stolen from a barn owned by the UP Minister for Minorities and Urban Development on January 31, 2014 following which dog squads, crime branch sleuths and police personnel were put on the job to find them.
