Crowds at Modi rallies? People flock to see dacoits too: SP leader

Samajwadi Party leader Ram Gopal Yadav compared crowds at BJP star Narendra Modi`s rallies with people who flock to see a dacoit in the ravines of Chambal.

Mainpuri: Samajwadi Party leader Ram Gopal Yadav on Thursday compared crowds at BJP star Narendra Modi`s rallies with people who flock to see a dacoit in the ravines of Chambal.

Yadav, a cousin of Samajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh Yadav, also asserted that Modi would never be able to make it as the prime minister of India.

Talking to reporters on the sidelines of a party rally at Mainpuri, Ram Gopal Yadav told reporters that the Samajwadi Party government would benefit electorally due to its pro-poor and welfare schemes.

Earlier, speaking at the rally held in his Lok Sabha constituency Mainpuri, Mulayam Singh Yadav predicted a "pivotal role" for the Third Front after the 2014 Lok Sabha polls. He also warned people to beware of communal forces who wanted to divide the society for political gains.

Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, who too addressed the rally, laid the foundation stones of developmental projects worth Rs 434.28 crore.

Accusing his predecessor Mayawati of plundering the state coffers on statues, memorials and parks, Akhilesh Yadav said this money was now being used for the welfare of the people.

The Chief Minister also accused the governments in many states of aping the schemes of his government.
