Agra: In an apparent suicide pact, a couple belonging to two different communities allegedly slashed their throats with famed Taj Mahal in the backdrop here saying that there families were against their relationship.
The couple attempted suicide yesterday evening at a secluded spot in the Taj Nature Walk, 500 metres from the monument, and were found in a pool of blood by visitors.
They were rushed to emergency ward of SM Medical College here and their condition is stated to be out of danger, police said today.
Inspector of Taj Ganj police station said that there was improvement in their condition and further action will be taken only after a written complaint from family members, as both are adults.
Family members of the youth visited him in the hospital today but no one from the girl's family came to see her, sources said.
However, a case of attempt to suicide could be filed later.
The frustration from the response from their parents forced them to take this extreme step, the boy told the city magistrate MP Singh who reached the hospital late Wednesday evening to record their statement.
