New Delhi: The BJP has no chief ministerial candidate in Uttar Pradesh despite having already suffered defeat in Bihar on fighting elections in name of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, says Congress General Secretary Digvijaya Singh.

In an interview with news channel ETV, Singh also said that Congress President Sonia Gandhi's daughter Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will herself decided on taking a more active role in politics.

"Whether Priyanka Gandhi will join politics or not, it will be solely her decision. If she joins politics and takes care of party functioning, it will inject enthusiasm among party workers," he said.

He went on to say that the BJP has no face in Uttar Pradesh for the upcoming elections in the state.

"Congress will contest UP elections by taking on failure of the Akhilesh Yadav government, corruption, and dignity of the people of the state. People are fed up of Samjawadi government in UP. Even Mayawati is silent. BJP has no leader and it has seen the result of using Prime Minister Narendra Modi's name in Bihar elections," said Singh.

"Modi government has diminished the rights of state governments. Even home ministry also does not have any rights. There is only one leader in BJP and he is Narendra Modi," he added.
