New Delhi: The BJP on Monday alleged that Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav-led Uttar Pradesh government has given meagre amount of Rs 75 to Rs 330 as compensation to farmers affected due to crop damage.

BJP's UP president, Laxmikant Bajpai, while showing some cheques to ANI said, “The state government is giving out compensation cheques of Rs 75 to Rs 330. It is like mocking the farmers. I've seven such cheques with me.”

He further added, “No cheques for an amount below Rs 700 can be made, but the farmers have been given cheques of Rs 100. Besides this, cheques of Rs 100 have been issued to deceased persons.”

Meanwhile, JD(U) senior leader KC Tyagi told ANI that their party will rake up the issue before the Centre government.

“Such complaints have been received from various states. We will raise this issue in Parliament,” he was quoted as saying.
