The authorities in Varanasi have prohibited boating in the River Ganges as the water is flowing above the danger mark due to heavy rain.

Varanasi: The authorities in Varanasi have prohibited boating in the River Ganges as the water is flowing above the danger mark due to heavy rain.

"The movements of boats have been prohibited till the situation does not normalise. The electric engineers have been instructed to take care of short-circuits and check current passing from the river water then a detailed inspection on the same would be conducted," said District Magistrate Pranjal Yadav.

The locals staying on the banks of the River Ganges have started relocating as water entered the temple premises.

The water level in Ganges was recorded at 62.320 meter on Monday afternoon.
