Another BJP leader shot in Uttar Pradesh; third in five days

In a third incident of attack on a BJP leader in Uttar Pradesh, party leader Punit Singhal on Wednesday was shot by three unknown assailants in Bulandshehar and is said to be in critical condition.

Lucknow: In a third incident of attack on a BJP leader in Uttar Pradesh, party leader Punit Singhal on Wednesday was shot by three unknown assailants in Bulandshehar and is said to be in critical condition. The attack came just a day after BJP leader Om Veer was gunned down by two motorcycle-borne assailants.

Earlier, in the state`s Greater Noida, BJP leader Vijay Pandit was shot dead by unidentified bike riders who shot five bullets at him. While Om Veer was hit by seven bullets that killed him on the spot. Veer was shot from close range while he was taking his morning walk Meerapur, Muzaffanagar.

Furious BJP workers had gathered and staged protest against the firing incident that killed Vijay Pandit in Noida. After which a mob set ablaze 16 vehicles near a police station causing heavy traffic jam at NH-91.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, after severe criticism about the law and order situation in the state, ordered probe into the dead of Pandit.
After the killing of Om Veer, BJP`s Muzaffarnagar president Satyapal Singh Pal took a strident line and said that the administration has been given 24 hours to nab the culpripts in the murder of Om Veer.

There are reports that Veer managed to return fire with his licenced pistol and injured one of the attacker.
Meanwhile, police said that the BJP leader was shot dead after a dispute over money. Accodring to police, Veer owed some money to various people.
