Amethi murder case: Main accused surrenders before court

The main accused in the murder case of a Congress leader`s son and his aide has surrendered before a court in Sultanpur, police said here Tuesday.

Amethi: The main accused in the murder case of a Congress leader`s son and his aide has surrendered before a court in Sultanpur, police said here Tuesday.

Uday Bhan Singh, the accused in the murder of Mahendra Pratap Singh and his aide Suresh Pandey, surrendered yesterday. The district police had formed three teams to nab him.

Two other accused Nilkamal Singh and Rudra Pratap Singh had earlier surrendered before the court on June 30 and July 3 respectively, while three persons -- Veer Singh, Ravindra Pratap Singh and Amar Nath Pathak -- were arrested on July 8 for their alleged involvement in the murder.

Mahendra and Suresh were killed on June 14 last near Raniganj market in Jagdishpur. An FIR in connection with the case was lodged on the complaint of Mahendra`s father and Congress leader Jang Bahadur Singh on June 14.
