Puducherry: AICC general secretary V Narayanasamy on Thursday alleged that 'fake certificates' were issued to a good number of students to enable them to join the MBBS course in government-run Indira Gandhi Medical College and Research Institute here under seats meant for students of Puducherry.

Although various outfits and opposition parties had sought a detailed probe by CBI into the fake certificates issue the government had not only remained silent but had also been trying "to hush up the malpractices adopted in the past to select students for the MBBS course," he said.

He alleged in a release here today that during the last three years since the establishment of the college 'fake certificates' were issued to a good number of students to enable them to join the college under seats meant for students of Puducherry.

Narayanasamy also said earmarking some seats to French nationals would deprive local students the opportunity to do medical course.
