Warangal: Clicking a selfie turned out to be fatal for five youths who drowned in a water reservoir in Telangana on Saturday while trying to save one of their friends.
The mishap took place at the Dharmasagar reservoir in Warangal district.
According to the police, five engineering students, including two girls, reached the reservoir for a swim. The students, ignored the warning signs and soon started taking pictures and clicking selfies at the water body.
One of the girls, in an attempt to take a selfie over a rock surrounded by water, suddenly fell into the reservoir. To save her, other students too jumped into the water body and all of them drowned.
Police have registered a case and sent all bodies for autopsy. Further investigation into the case is going on.
