Tamil Nadu Assembly polls: AIADMK conducts interview of aspiring candidates

Gearing up for the polls, the ruling AIADMK on Sunday interviewed the aspiring candidates for the May 16 state assembly election in the presence of party supremo and Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa.

Chennai: Gearing up for the polls, the ruling AIADMK on Sunday interviewed the aspiring candidates for the May 16 state assembly election in the presence of party supremo and Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa.

An AIADMK party statement today said aspiring candidates for the assembly polls in the three states, were interviewed in the presence of Jayalalithaa.

Jayalalithaa, in January, had invited applications from aspiring candidates for the elections in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Kerala.

The application process began on January 20 and concluded on February 6, in which more than 26,000 applications were received.

Election Commission last week announced that the polls for Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry will be held on May 16 and counting to be taken up on May 19.
