An anonymous phone call threatening that a bomb would go off in the Madras High Court complex led to a scare which later proved to be hoax.

Chennai: An anonymous phone call threatening that a bomb would go off in the Madras High Court complex led to a scare which later proved to be hoax.

"The call was made from a public call facility. We are tracing the caller. A probe is on," Inspector, High Court Police, Velavar told PTI.

Earlier today, anxiety gripped the Madras High Court premises after a caller told the court registrar that "a bomb would go off in the court complex."

Sniffer dogs and bomb disposal squads were pressed into service and a thorough search proved the call to be hoax.

Only a few days ago, a man from Nagapattinam was arrested for making two bomb threat calls to the airport here.
