Salem: Five persons were arrested in Vazhapadi in the district on Thursday for alleged rape and murder of a 10-year old girl there last week, police said.
All those arrested, including two brothers, were aged between 21 to 31, police said.
The five were produced before a judicial magistrate here, who remanded them to 15 days judicial custody.
The naked body of the girl was found hanging from a tree near a temple in the town on February 15.
Police had said members of her family were sleeping, but when they woke up in the morning found her missing and launched a search.
Police had said there was blood in the girl`s mouth and the body had bruises all over.
The victim`s father is a handloom worker.
