Quadrantid meteor shower to dazzle night skies tonight

Quadrantids, which are known for producing lots of bright fireballs in the night sky, visits every New Year, Cnet reported.

The Quadrantids` peak only lasts for a few hours, compared to peaks that can last for a few days for the better known meteor groups.

According to NASA , which calls them "a little-known meteor shower named after an extinct constellation," said it is possible to see them at a rate of more than one per minute, with many of them being of the exceptionally bright and longer-lasting fireball variety.
