Vans mow down 15, injure 20 in Pakistani Punjab

At least 15 people were killed and over 20 others injured as two passenger vans ran over people waiting at a bus stop in Pakistan`s Punjab province Thursday.

Islamabad: At least 15 people were killed and over 20 others injured as two passenger vans ran over people waiting at a bus stop in Pakistan`s Punjab province Thursday.

Two overspeeding vans coming from the opposite directions lost control while crossing each other and hit people at Totak bus stop in Dera Ghazi Khan district Thursday, Xinhua reported citing a media report.

The road mishap left six people killed on the spot and injured more than 30 others.

Rescue teams shifted bodies and the injured to a nearby hospital, where nine more people succumbed to injuries, bringing the death toll to 15.

Following the incident, angry protesters set the vans on fire and the drivers were arrested.
