UN, US offer support to quake-hit Afghanistan, Pakistan

The United Nations and the US have offered support to Afghanistan and Pakistan after a 7.7 magnitude earthquake jolted the two countries.

Karachi: The United Nations and the US have offered support to Afghanistan and Pakistan after a 7.7 magnitude earthquake jolted the two countries.

According to the Dawn, UN spokesman Stephan Dujarric said that the organization is mobilising emergency stocks as a preparatory measure if assistance is required.

Meanwhile, Pakistan's UN Ambassador Maleeha Lodhi is briefing the UN officials about the situation in the country.

The White House said that the US stands ready to provide support to the governments of Afghanistan and Pakistan following the devastating earthquake.

The death toll has crossed the 300-mark in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
