Lahore: The economic situation in Pakistan is deteriorating with each passing day due to the government`s policies and unwise trade with India, a Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) parliamentarian has said.
According to MPA Ziaullah Shah, the Pakistani economy has faced a trade deficit of more than USD 11.468 million with India during the months of July and August, due to unbalanced business deals with the neighbouring country, reports the Daily Times.
Shah said that during the period between July and August of 2011, the deficit of Pak-India trade was USD 11.289 million, which had been increased this year. He blamed the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) government for the deficit, saying that the PPP lacked vision while drafting economic policies. Shah said the government should consider options other than India, "as many countries wanted to invest in Pakistan, like Turkey and other Middle Eastern countries".
He said the parliamentary and non-parliamentary institutions have paid no attention to the matter. Shah said the government should reconsider its policies, especially the trade policy, with India, as it was the need of the hour.
