Nebraska (US) based Robert Kugler faced that situation in 2015 when his best friend was diagnosed with cancer and he decided to do something different.

His best friend is a beautiful chocolate lab named Bella. Speaking of Bella, Kugler says that the relationship he has with her is one of the “biggest connection” he has ever had with another living being and it doesn't matter from him that it's a dog.

Bella lost a leg to bone cancer in May 2015. Doctors gave her 3-6 months more as cancer had spread to her lungs.

Kugler says, “After losing a leg to Cancer in May of 2015 and given 3-6months to live due to cancer in her lungs....Bella joined me on an adventure across the country to explore this great land, visit many friends, encourage others to get out and explore, inspire those with disabilities to continue to Love their lives and enjoy the moment, and of course, to simply enjoy each other's company.”
