New Delhi: Meet Timberwolf, the survivor and an implausibly strong koala, who survived an hour long high speed drive clinging to the bottom of a car that travelled 88km on a busy Australian freeway.
The four-year-old lucky koala almost had a second chance at life after being hit by a car near Maryborough in Queensland, but it still managed to hang on.
The family driving the car realised this only when they spotted something hanging onto the grille of the car when they halted in a Gympie service station.
The koala was treated at an Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital, where the staff told that he suffered only minor injuries and a broken nail.
Also, the Australia Zoo staff named their football team after Timberwolf.
Further, Timberwolf is being treated with antibiotics and painkillers for his broken nail and is supposed to remain in hospital for about a month before being left free after recovering completely.
Australia`s cuddly national icon, the koala is listed as `vulnerable in the country and there numbers are declining rapidly.
