Mobile app on Badrinath Yatra launched

Badrinath pilgrimage now has a smartphone app!

Lucknow/Dehradun: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat on Monday launched a mobile application for the annual Badrinath pilgrimage.

Known as 'Shubh Badrinath Yatra', the application made by the district administration of Chamoli, provides information of the pilgrimage between Joshimath and Badrinath.

Officials said when users are online, the application would automatically detect their location and give them information from that point of journey.

Garhwal Divisional Commissioner Chandra Singh Napalchyal told IANS the Mobile app will have information of ATM's, petrol pumps, hotels, restaurants, potable water, toilets, parkings, bus stands, taxi stands and repair shops.

All these facilities including emergency and helipad services would be linked to the Google maps. The application would also suggest alternate and emergency routes in case of a landslide or inclement weather conditions, officials added.

Appreciating the App, Chief Minister Rawat said based on the success of the application, the Uttarakhand government would try to extend it to Yamunotri, Gangotri and Kedarnath shrines.
