London: Spanish archeologists have discovered a 3,600-year-old mummy in the ancient city of Luxor, Egypt.
Egypt`s Antiquities Minister, Mohammed Ibrahim , said that the mummy preserved wooden sarcophagus dates back to 1600 BC and it appears to belong to a high official, as it is engraved with hieroglyphs and decorated with inscriptions of bird feathers, the Independent reported.
He said that the exact identity of the well-preserved mummy, which was discovered by a Spanish mission in collaboration with the Egyptian antiquities ministry, will now be studied.
Antiquities department head Ali Al-Asfar said the two-meter sarcophagus still bears original coloring and writings.
