Twitter's Periscope launches 'follower only' mode for users to curb strangers from trolling

Washington: Twitter owned Periscope has introduced a new "follower only" mode for its users that keeps strangers from trolling them.

According to the Verge, only people who users follow will be able to comment and everyone else will be just a passive viewer.

Along with new mode, Twitter has made it easier to block people from a stream, whether or not we are the broadcaster. Now users can just tap their name and they will get the option either to block them or go directly to their Periscope profile.

These new features are useful, but potentially useless on popular broadcasts. Periscope will automatically disable comments from a stream if it gets too full, something that could change as the feature matures.

The update also includes a new discovery section of global broadcasts from around the world and the blue checkmark badge for verified users that Twitter uses for its users.

Periscope is only available for iOS users. Last week, the team developing it said an Android version would be available soon.
