New York: Now, a non-consensual sharing of "intimate photos and videos" on Twitter is a direct violation of its laws.

The new Twitter rules are plainly stated, unambiguous, and are designed to help a lot of vulnerable people.

Publishing or posting other people's private and confidential information, such as credit card numbers, street address or Social Security/National Identity numbers, without their express authorization and permission, is now banned by Twitter, reported wired.com.

However, people are skeptical whether Twitter has the wherewithal to enforce this ban immediately.

A team of Twitter employees will monitor and address complaints from its users on any violation of its rules. The accounts of the violators will stand suspended.

Since the new rules put the onus of reporting on the victim, experts are not sure that the new policy would help much.

As of now, to get an offending picture removed, the victim has to first know that it exists, then ask Twitter to remove it, and finally wait for a decision.
