Punjab: Slight improvement in RSS leader's condition, say doctors

RSS leader Jagdish Gagneja, who was severely injured after being shot at by some bike-borne assailants, is showing signs of improvement, doctors said on Wednesday.

Ludhiana: RSS leader Jagdish Gagneja, who was severely injured after being shot at by some bike-borne assailants, is showing signs of improvement, doctors said on Wednesday.

There is a slight improvement in his condition. However, he is still on a ventilator, GS Wander, director, Hero DMC Heart Institute, said.

The RSS leader had undergone a surgery to remove two bullets from his stomach. However, a third bullet is still lodged in his body.

Gagneja, vice president of the RSS (Punjab), was shot at on Saturday by bike-borne persons at Jyoti Chowk area here when he had gone shopping with his wife, leaving him seriously injured. A four-member SIT has been formed to probe the attack.

 

The bullets have damaged the leader's small intestine at five places and the large intestine at three points, the doctors said.

Punjab DGP Suresh Arora said there was no significant breakthrough in the case so far.
