French ambassador Francois Richier called on Punjab Governor Shivraj Patil here on Thursday and discussed various issues, including collaborations between the two countries.

Chandigarh: French ambassador Francois Richier called on Punjab Governor Shivraj Patil here on Thursday and discussed various issues, including collaborations between the two countries.

Speaking on the occasion, Patil, who is also the Chandigarh Administrator, said India and France had forged mutually beneficial collaborative ties in the realm of education, scientific research and culture over the past several decades.

He advocated for strengthening of partnerships in agri-related ventures, especially food processing, which has a major scope of collaboration. Patil said Punjab has been doing well in the field of agriculture and the quality of land is also very good and fertile.
The Governor, according to an official release here, further said that another area in which there was a big scope for partnership was solar energy.

He said bold initiatives have already been taken to enhance power generation with focus on tapping solar energy.

Richier, while interacting with the Governor, said the two countries shared good relations, and added that finding new solutions in particular areas of interest would further help in strengthening the relations.
